COFTT helps you start and grow your business - hassle-free, legal, and done right.
Wondering how you can become a real estate agent in Dubai or get started as a real estate broker? It’s not as complicated as it seems! You just need the right certification, follow the proper legal steps, and understand how Dubai’s property market works. And that’s exactly what I’ll guide you through today. Are you ready? Let’s dive in!
And here’s a little secret: Many new real estate agents in Dubai are closing deals worth millions. Even beginners can earn commissions that some people only imagine.
Isn’t that exciting?
But of course - before you jump in, you’ll need to get certified, follow the right legal steps, and learn how the Dubai real estate market really works. That’s exactly what I’ll walk you through today.
Did you know? Real estate investment in Dubai isn’t just about buying and selling properties anymore. It’s also powered by the UAE’s residency by investment programs! Many investors from the UK, Europe, India, and beyond are entering the market because owning property here can actually secure them a residency visa.
This growing demand is driving property sales through the roof - and that means more opportunities for agents and brokers. Isn’t this the perfect time to grab your share of Dubai’s booming real estate industry?
Before you can get certified as a broker, you’ll need to be a legal resident of the UAE. If you already have a residency visa, great - you’re ready for the next steps.
But what if you don’t? No worries!
You can easily get a UAE residency through setting up a company, getting a remote work visa, or even property investment. And guess what?
We’ve explained all these options here in our dedicated article: Ways to Get UAE Residency
So, whether you’re already living in Dubai or planning to move soon, the path is open for you.
Once you have your residency sorted, it’s time for your official training.
In Dubai, every real estate agent must complete the Certified Training for Real Estate Brokers, offered by the Dubai Real Estate Institute (DREI). This isn’t just a formality - the training teaches you about property laws, ethics, real estate marketing, legal regulations, and the Dubai market landscape.
The fee for the course is AED 3,000.
And believe me - it’s worth every dirham. Most agents who complete the training say it gave them a real head start, even before their first deal.
After finishing your DREI training, you’ll be ready to sit for the RERA exam. This test checks your understanding of what you’ve learned and ensures you can work legally as a broker in Dubai.
The exam fee is AED 500.
Feeling nervous? Don’t be. If you paid attention during the training, you’ll do just fine.
Passed your exam? Congratulations - you’re almost there!
Now, you’ll need to apply for your RERA Broker Certificate. To apply, you’ll submit:
a. Your DREI training certificate
b. Your RERA exam results
c. A Good Conduct Certificate from Dubai Police
d. A copy of your passport
Once your application is approved, you’ll officially become a licensed real estate broker in Dubai.
Isn’t this simple when you know the exact steps?
Now comes the exciting part. Once you’re licensed, you can register as a broker with Dubai’s leading developers like Emaar, DAMAC, Danube, Sobha, and more.
Let me give you an example:
One of our clients recently registered as an agent with DAMAC. He simply went to their Agent Portal, signed up, and after a quick approval, he had full access to project listings, brochures, and even seminar invites.
Once you’re registered, developers will supply you with everything you need to promote their latest properties.
Now you’re in business.
This is where most agents either struggle or succeed big time.
In today’s digital world, marketing real estate isn’t just about handing out flyers. You’ll want to use:
a. Instagram to post property photos and reels
b. TikTok for video tours of apartments and villas
c. Snapchat for live updates and new listings
d. YouTube Shorts for quick property highlights
Many brokers are also using Facebook ads to target potential buyers. And don’t underestimate the power of email newsletters. These are great getting new leads.
Pro Tip: Video marketing works like magic. People love to see inside properties before they visit.
Isn’t this a fun way to grow your business?
Apart from social media, think about these modern marketing methods:
a. Hosting virtual tours
b. Collaborating with property influencers
c. Creating a lead magnet like an e-book for first-time buyers
d. Running retargeting ads on Facebook and Instagram
If you want to stand out - this is how you do it.
They say: Your network is your net worth. And it couldn’t be truer in real estate.
Attend property expos, developer seminars, and real estate workshops. Network not just with local agents - but also with buyers and investors from the UK, USA, Europe, and India.
Our client from London did exactly this. After becoming a licensed agent in Dubai, she built a network of UK-based investors and started closing deals fast.
See how powerful networking can be?
Dubai’s property market moves quickly. Trends change. Prices fluctuate. Laws evolve.
Successful brokers never stop learning. Keep attending developer workshops, stay subscribed to real estate newsletters, and keep an eye on new project launches.
This is how you stay one step ahead of your competition.
Finally - and this is non-negotiable - offer top-notch service to your clients.
Return calls quickly. Provide accurate information. Be transparent about fees. Remember, a happy client will refer you to five others. That’s how the most successful agents grow their businesses.
At COFTT, we’ve helped countless aspiring brokers - from the UK, USA, Europe, and India - get licensed and start closing deals in Dubai’s exciting property market.
We can help you too.
